Don't get caught in the trap of the mega church. I said I'd never attend one and somehow because I had some friends that went to Elevation, I ended up there too. Such a mistake. It's just a franchise not a church. Big money. Good luck getting to know anyone unless you join a small group if ya can find one that fits your life and schedule. Good luck in that small group meeting any real Christians. They're all being taught lies....so.... Fake! And It's a store right when ya walk in. Buy shirts, CDs, cups and books galore. Enjoy the "experience" as they call it. Light show and music so loud you feel you're at a concert. Sound fun ya think? Well it's just a distraction from God. All to get you hyped to praise Steven Firtick. They literally cheer for him. What about Jesus? Jesus deserves the praise. Ridiculous. He is all about making himself famous and rich. The congregation does very little to help the community and if anyone within the church needs help...forget it. So where is the money going? Seen his house? When I heard Pastor Furtick and some guest speakers using the Lords name in vain and a demon that referred to Jesus as a "Savage" I was DONE! They will pay for disrespecting God. The bible warns us of false prophets and false teachers who do these sorts of things. Wake up people. Don't listen to this man! Discernment! *Oh the book. I left the church so it was thrown away. Bunch of smooth talk mixed with very little scripture throughout. The bible tells us false teachers tell what tickles the ears.
When your toxic thoughts try to control your life — read this book!
If we have 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day, then I probably have double that amount. I am ALWAYS in my head, thoughts swirling like a merry-go-round going 200 miles a second. I kid you not. I have random thoughts, good thoughts, relaxing thoughts. I also have endless monologue in my brain about a variety of subjects, most of which I never vocalize to anyone. Some of those thoughts come out on my writing, while I store away others for future use. And then there are the bad thoughts, the negative ones. Self-condemnation. Lies the enemy tries to inject into your brain. More self-condemnation. Then there are those thoughts you don’t delve into too deeply, and you self-implode. The result? A fight with a loved one or with a colleague or — CRASH THE CHATTERBOX is such a relatable book. We all go through these things. We ALL do. Christians go through it because there’s that constant battle in your mind — the one that could make you or break you. Steven Furtick describes this in painful and on-point detail. He even opens up about his most destructive bursts of rage and how his bottled-up thoughts brought him to breaking point. His solution? Go to God with all of your thoughts, good or bad. Cry out to Him. One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is that God will disapprove of us if we’re anything less than perfect. No one’s perfect, so why pretend to be? I am in an area in my life where I no longer hide my emotions, fears or insecurities from God. At some point, I will probably mess up and my thoughts will have a lot to do with that. So whether or not you’re a Christian, the best approach is to purge those thoughts. I enjoyed reading this book, or any book in which it exposes the complexities of the human condition. Downsides? The tiny font. Couldn’t the publishers make it larger? And the book should’ve delved deeper into some things. Instead we get a lot of information about how Furtick has to filter his answers during his interviews. Great read otherwise. Four out of five hazelnut iced home brewed coffees!
I didn't have too much hope that it would help because she has tried so many other things like retreats, programs
I gave this book to my daughter who has serious problems that this book deals with.. I didn't have too much hope that it would help because she has tried so many other things like retreats, programs, counseling etc. I was overjoyed to hear her excited response that this was the best book she had ever read on the subject. She has greatly improved already and just from one reading of this book. I therefore can heartily recommend this book to all who suffer in this manner. I must add that I do not necessarily endorse any other of Mr. Furticks writings or ideas. He seems to be a mixture of good and not so good, scriptural and not so scriptural. But this review is for this book only and I do say it is very good.
Extremely Thought Provoking Book - well worth the read!
This was a hard book for me, because it really hit me right where I needed it to. The book is all about the voices we listen to - in our head, in our heart... and how we often (far TOO often!) listen to the wrong ones. I think girls are especially susceptible to this, but I'm sure guys do it too! The author tell us that "this book is built on four confessions... meant to function like noise-cancelling headphones for your mind, heart, and soul." He goes on to tell us that they are: Confession 1: God says I am. Confession 2: God says He will. Confession 3: God says He has. Confession 4: God says I can. While these four confessions seem simple, even simplistic, they are each true. There is Scripture to back each one of them up. And they each have power. But they aren't going to change our lives unless we believe them, and trust that God is who He says He is, He will do what He says He will, and I am never going to be alone because He's always with me. That is incredibly powerful! The book goes into great detail about each of these, and expounds on why the confessions are important, but also why the thought behind each of them is important. He does a fantastic job making it seem like anyone can learn to move past that inner voice, the voice that is NOT the voice of God talking to us, but a voice that is only speaking things to make us doubt ourselves, and to doubt God too. The author makes it clear that while there's no way to completely be rid of the chatterbox, there are ways to help silence it. As someone who has a very noisy chatterbox (and is also a chatterbox herserlf, ha ha!), I really appreciated the way things were presented in this book. Nothing that was shared was earth-shattering, but it was good, sound advice with practical ways to change how you look at things. It's important for us to understand that we're not supposed to listen to the chatterbox - we're supposed to listen to the still, small voice of the Lord. He doesn't talk to us to confuse us, and when we're feeling conflicted about something, it's highly likely we've been listening to the chatterbox! At the end of the book, the author gives you the website for this book - [...] - and invites readers to visit the site, click on "Calling all Chatterboxers" and find all sorts of additional information. I went and checked it out, and while I couldn't find that link to click on, I did find some great video clips of interviews with people I know from other books and studies. They included: Dr. Henry Cloud, Shaunti Feldhahn, Christine Caine, and Mandisa (among others!). Those video clips are well worth checking out! I received a free copy of this book from the publisher, in exchange for my honest review. The thoughts and opinions expressed here are completely my own.

This book is a blessing! I have been blessed, challenged and changed. I have been inspired by Pastor Steven Furtick. He's transparent and funny. He will make you cry and think. There's one particular part that made me bawl - a full weep. You gotta get this book! There's insight on how to crash those negative voices that we all have to deal with. He doesn't water it down. He doesn't lie and tell you that they'll go away, but he gives you tools to defeat the power of the Chatterbox, time and time again. The audio is the best! I promise, you will not be disappointed.
Life Changing
“We live in a world full of chatter. Lies of condemnation, fear, insecurity and discouragement bombard us every day. All the people around you are fighting off their own chatterboxes. Your friends. Your spouse. Your coworkers. The young woman taking your order at Starbucks. BUT the battle isn’t ours to fight alone. The good news is, now that you have the tools to fight with, the Enemy doesn’t stand a chance. Not only can you crash your own chatterbox, but you can become the catalyst of change for others as they expose the lies they hear inside their own heads.” This is a life changing must read!!
Terrific
Pastor Furtick has long since been a favorite of mine. I've seen him speak in person as well. His books are written the way I enjoy - just like he is standing there saying it to you. This study was done with a group of friends who were mixed. Men & Women, married and single, etc. We enjoyed this study very much and highly recommend it. The DVD was comical and had some visuals we thought drove the message home. It really gives you hope when you realize that even Pastors have that little nagging voice in their head telling them things. Ready for his next study!
Crash the Chatterbox: Hearing God's Voice An All Others
Great book that I rated five stars. A must read for anyone who is constantly being discouraged by the "Chatterbox. Author and Pastor Steven Firtick gives a simple, practical approach through the word of God to get the victory from the "Chatterbox." Pastor Furtick , thank you with peace and blessings. I am encouraged after reading your meaningful book!
Can't Applaud Steven Furtick more for this real life example of being a Christian
What I love most about this book is how I was able to relate to the examples he gives of the negative thoughts and self condemnation we unnecessarily inflict upon ourselves daily. We say there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, we quote scriptures for others but we lack faith for ourselves. Pastor Furtick confronts his own real life challenges of being a Christian in this book. He talks about the tricks the enemy uses to make us feel as though we are not good enough, that we are failures, that we are enept. He also tells us in this book how to fight back, gain wisdom and know who we are and where our strength comes from. The book has already helped me to combat the lies that i have believed about myself, how to recognize them as lies and how to walk in victory. Thank you Pastor Furtick, for your transparency and willingness to expose weaknesses about yourself that we all deal with but hide from others, especially other Christians. Thank you for your honesty and allowing God to use you to help others. I highly recommend this book. There is something in it for everyone!
