it`s easy. Avengers endgame SPOILER!!! So...if you look at the end of endgame when tony snaps you will see that only thanos and his minions vanish...So if you connect this with Thanos initial snap you can fairly deduct that he whomever snaps can pretty much choose what gets fucked up or not....so I guess he just choose to wipe 50% without him.
